The Affiliated High School to Guizhou Normal University, founded in 1901, is one of the first provincial model high schools in Guizhou Province, one of the first national demonstration bases of scientific research prospering education, priority subject experimental school in the national 10th five-year plan, nationwide famous school in learning and studying laws, Guizhou Provincial Experimental School of Modern Educational Technology and the modern education practice base for teachers in Guizhou Province. In its more than 100 years of history, the school has undergone the Dade Academy, Zhengyi Middle School, Nanming Middle School, Provincial Guiyang No.2 High School, the Affiliated Middle School of Guiyang Normal College until its present name and produced talents in all walks of life, such as proletarian revolutionist Wang Ruofei, former director of the Central Children Arts Theater Ren Hong, Lunxun Literature expert Lin Chen, the director of Suzhou Chinese Painting Institution and former member of the national committee of CPPCC Xie Xiaosi, painter-calligrapher Zhang Xingcha, Liu Fushen, Feng Jiquan, the American hydromechanics scientist Yi Jiaxun. The affiliated high school has abided by its eight-charactermotto,i.e.Sincerity-Respect-Diligence-Courage-Intellectual-Health-Strictness-Inclusiveness, has cultivated its school culture and traditions which all make it one famous school in Guizhou Province and retain some influence nationwide.

It covers 43614.53㎡ with the construction area at 24547 ㎡ , including teaching buildings, laboratories, multimedia classroom, computer room, library, stadiums on both campuses. It is the earliest to build the GB campus computer network in Guizhou Province, has its own official website linked with the Education Information Network of Guizhou Normal University.
The quality of the Affiliated High School to Guizhou Normal University has been constantly improving in the last decades, and in the comprehensive evaluation and college enrollment of the high school graduation classes in Guiyang City, it has been among the top ones, especially in 2004, the Affiliated High School topped the list in Guiyang City with 91.8% students were admitted into colleges while the provincial college enrollment rate slumped.
The Affiliated High School to Guizhou Normal University is the first school that has passed the high school education quality assessment with straight A in Guizhou Province, and is one the first schools rated as provincial model high school.
